Sure, it is an absolute sin to kill those treasured little creatures to create new fur coats simply so we can look "glam". But what about all of the fur coats that hang in the thrift stores? What about Grandma's fur coat that was handed down to us nonetheless smelling a bit like moth balls? What do we do with these things after we are timid about carrying them?

Here is the answer! Within the 1970's, once I spied my first "Worth Village Thrift Retailer" just after shifting to Seattle, I latched on to the most fantastic feeling, large fur coat. There it was hanging on the rack.....I couldn't cease my hand from touching the fawn brown fur. The feel, the softness, instantly sent me in to a form of feminine "daze" that was exhausting to describe and that only a woman might relate to.

I slipped it off the hanger and slipped myself in to it. It's 1940's styling dwarfed me! It was miles to large for me however at such a bargain price of simply $35.00, I needed to have this beautiful feeling factor!

For years I let it grasp within the closet. Then sooner or later, figuring out I would never wear it wherever, I decided to re-fashion this mass of fur in to something I might actually take pleasure in on a daily basis. I minimize it up! That is proper! I took a pair of scissors to the factor! Are you able to believe it? Nevertheless it was one of the best thing I could have done.

After ripping out the lining and slicing off the sleeves, I purchased an upholstery stitching needle and upholstery thread in deep brown and started giving this drained outdated coat new life.

What resulted have been two wonderful oblong pillows (made from the sleeves) that laid on my mattress for practically 20 years. The body of the coat was so oddly shaped that I made a decision to trim it in to an even rectangle that laid over the foot of my bed for use as a very warm and comforting "throw".

I loved these new decor gadgets for years. That's, till "Sadie" entered the picture.

Sadie is the "different woman" in my husbands life. A hanging strawberry blond with large brown eyes who woos and teases him and demands much of us both. Sadie, in fact, is our canine and Sadie LOVED that fur! Being "childless", I feel Sadie adopted them as her puppies.

Little by little through the years, she nurtured those pillows and throw as if they were her children. Flea biting them till they misplaced their fur leaving just the "conceal" exposed. Sadly, my fur pillows and throw made it to the rubbish can, never to be seen again. However ah, the recollections remain of laying on the throw with the pillow under my head, my cheek nestled in opposition to it in consolation as I napped and dreamed of mansions.

The fur items added texture to the other, coordinating bed pillows and I enjoyed the comments from folks as I would present them the decorating I had done in that room. "Wow!" they'd exclaim as they'd stroll over to the touch the fur and run their arms throughout it.

So when you have a fur coat in your closet that you dread carrying, but in addition really feel that it's a lot too good to throw away, think about turning it in to something you'll be able to enjoy on a daily basis. It creates a sense of luxurious you will enjoy for years.
