Those who serve him is going to be looked after and will have a path cleared to what they are attempting to obtain. However, he may also give you a little lesson if you have not done something you must have or perhaps not used your best judgement. You will find different chants to ask Papa Legba. The clergy in Voodoo is made up of Mambos which are the ladies and Hougans what are men. Then you have the Bokors who can be men or woman. A Bokor does magic for a small fee. Some of their favorites are chicken, pork, yams, and certainly some desserts. The Loas love the sweets. I've discovered that they enjoy jambalaya. So on food with a little spicy "kick" to it. After the food and dancing, sit back and have some conversations with them. Consult with them what you do and stuff that you would like to see happen. Ask for their guidance if you want it. Just make sure that you don't only make a move for them when you want something from their store. They will see through this and your rewards won't be nice. If you cannot afford to give extravagant gifts, then give what you can. The majority of the Loas will appreciate your time and effort. Some people serve one Loa and others serve many. You're going to get back what you put in. If you take proper care of the Loas, they will take care of you.
It is hard to learn about Voodoo. There are some books and websites who claim to be about Voodoo but that do not seem to know the very first thing about this. I have seen a website claiming to rehearse Voodoo, that had an inverted pentagram along with a devil on the site. There is no devil in Voodoo. It's not devilworship. It is not about zombies. Voodoo magic is extremely powerful but more often than not it is used for good. The people who actually practice Voodoo are often very caring those who are out to do good on the planet. Voodooisants accept people for who they really are. They do not exclude people due to color or age or sexual preference. The Loas judge people by what is within their hearts, not the colour of the skin. It's a shame that individuals aren't as open to Voodoo as Voodoo is of them. Voodouns are a loving individuals who serve the Loas and reap the rewards. Most are instructed to worship in private due to the prejudices against them. If you wish to see how fast an individual can shun you, just let them know your religion is Voodoo. So many Voodouns must practice secretly for anxiety about violence and prejudice. We won't give up our beliefs. We serve the Loas and love them. They look after us and love us back. We're Voodoun. This is who we are.
