A search engine rank checker will explain how your website ranks in one or more search engines. It also helps to know what the search engines think of your site although you might want to guess at methods to boost your ranking.

I typed "search engine rank checker" into Google and the following sites were detailed. For each one which was free, I used the url of a well known keyword research tool and also the keyword "keyword research software". This is what I found: 

Number one listing was sitereportcard. com. Here you can insert four urls and one or more keywords to find that ranking. The idea is you insert your own page address and three many other sites with which to compare it. Rankings are returned for Google, Gmail and MSN (now Bing). It returned my url as not in the top 100 for Google and Bing but multitude 19 in Yahoo. 

Selection two listing was SEOcentro. com. You put in an individual domain and a competitor if you wish plus your keyword. The following returned my url since number 1 in Yahoo, number 24 in Yahoo and not ranked in Bing. 

Googlerankings. com was the third of my search outcomes. The problem with it's that unless you already have got a Google SOAP API major, you can't use your tool. No, they won't issue any more APIs and no, they won't help you if you've lost the one you already had. 

Fourth was iwebtool. com. Again, you insert the url and keyword. There are drop down menus for Look on (search engine) together with Limit search to (a number of results) but each menu only offered one choice - Google and 100 results. This way too listed my url as number 1 on Yahoo. 

Fifth has been marketleap. com. A "problem" was returned for this one. 

Following at six was web-inspect. com. This one couldn't find my chosen url whatsoever in Google, Yahoo, WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER, Hot Bot or Teoma. 

7th was ineedhits. com. To use this tool I required to create an account together with having done so, I was asked to put a button on my own website. Results were: Google - above 100, Yahoo - selection 25 and Bing - number 50. 

Next, at number eight came up linkassistant. com. Rank Tracker is part of SEO Power Suite which you can download free or payed off. I already had this thanks to my hosting account so i plugged in my url therefore returned number 1 on Google and number twenty-five on both Yahoo and Bing. I really this way tool; it creates a project for you and you can do all sorts of things with it - too many to mention here as it's worth an article on its own. 

Number 9 returned the FAQ page at digitalpoint. com : tools. I finally found that I had to register here too so that i didn't bother. 

Finally at ten, Rank Checker with SEObook. com. This is a free download for which you have to register. As far as I can tell, it's only available for Firefox. It's very easy to use; just click on the logo on the status bar in Firefox, insert the url and as many keywords as you prefer and there you are. Results can be downloadable in CSV format. My url was #1 on Google, #19 on Hotmail and #25 on Ask. 

So my picks for google search rank checker based on these results would as well be Rank Tracker (virtually no. 8) and Show up Checker (no. 10) which returned more or less the same results.
