The first and easiest method is adding a faux finish to the doors. All you need for this are a few paint brushes, some specialty rollers, and a rag.

Tape off or remove all the door hardware to avoid getting paint on them.

Next you'll want to use a rag method to paint the cabinet front.

Soak the rag in paint and wring it out. Now dab the entire face of the cabinet with the rag. This will give a speckled texture to the cabinet.

Let the paint dry for a few hours and then grab the decorative roller. Use a different complimentary color paint for the rolled on design.

The way a decorative roller works is it will have an embossed pattern on the roll itself. As you roll it onto the cabinet front it will leave the design. Use it sparingly to just provide a few accent pieces.

The next way to redecorate the cabinet doors is much more involved. You need to pull the doors off the cabinets and take them into the shop.

Measure the cabinet door and figure out your offsets for the cabinet window.

Use a drill to mark the pilot holes for the 4 corners where you'll be cutting the doors.

Grab a jig saw and cut a square in the middle of the door.

Next you'll need a router to bevel in the sides of the cut.

Install a framework into the hole you've just cut and place a piece of glass inside the new frame.

Now stain the door with whatever color you want to apply.

Add several coats for a deeper stain.

After staining it's a good idea to apply a coat or two of polyurethane to protect the door. You don't want any moisture getting into the wood. Plus it makes cleaning the cabinets much easier.
